“JUST TO PROVE WOMEN ARE NOT THE ONLY BEAUTIFUL THING IN THE WORLD GOD CREATED FLOWERS”
The Keukenhof Garden is the world’s largest flower garden, and is truly a memorable sight in the spring. We visited this park in the first week of April. However, we felt maybe 2 weeks later would have been ideal. But it’s still worth a visit when ever it’s open as they plant to ensure new blooms are coming out all the time. But the weather was atrocious-cold, windy!
It’s a tulip lover heaven; Keukenhof is acres of tulips, hyacinths, gladiolus, and more, planted in colorful rows around ponds and cherry blossoms, thematic buildings, and outdoor eateries. . It’s an expensive trip through a gardener’s dream. This is seasonal and runs between march 20 to may 18 every year.
The outside gardens were only just coming into bloom. Very pretty, but not stunning as the flowers were not out on mass. One could still get the effect of the overall design. Wonderful displays of every type of spring flowers but the tulips are the main showcase. Beautifully maintained areas of lawn and flower beds. Our cameras were busy.
The inside displays were interesting and we particularly enjoyed the one garden house which was in the process of setting up a Van Gogh exhibition. This was lovely; to be frank there was no disappointment Very clever design of flowers, plants and paintings. For us, this was the best bit of the gardens.
The gardens and floral indoor arrangements in the different pavilions were stunning. Even though the tulips were about 3 weeks behind their normal blooming schedule, there were still glorious tulip beds providing wide sweeps of color .we loved it. Unfortunately we couldn’t do the boat travel through the tulip field has the weather was pretty bad but we did spend more time in the pavilions walking with our maps. Am not a lover of flowers but this was magnificent garden just not tulip but so many other flowers but worth the travel.
Orchid Decorated bed-how romantic…..:)
The garden was fairly crowded until about 4pm, when the scheduled day-tour buses began to haul away the majority of the tourists, leaving a much less crowded park for the rest of us to enjoy in the lovely late afternoon light. Even though we spent over 6 hours here, we did not see it all, and I wouldn’t have minded having from 10am-7pm to wander and enjoy the whole park.
It was an awesome experience!

Great post! I was never a flower person until I traveled to Hawaii, particularly the Big Island’s rainforest botanical garden. The hanging heliconia, anthurium, and other flowers are so cool. [The orchid house at Atlanta, Georgia’s botanical garden is another must visit.]

Actually you were really early – this year spring was late in coming to the Netherlands, it stayed cool for very long (although the winter itself had been very mild). So the flowers came late this year. But it looks like you still had a good time! 🙂

Hey Christie,
Rightly said! Flowers are the most inspiring thing in this universe.
Patience test – For all great things to achieve you need to have an ample of patience.
Like how dark ugly seed grows up to such a beautiful thing.
Life Real test – Nothing is permanent and will stay will forever. Make the most of what you have NOW..
