SEEING THE CITY IN THE WHOLE NEW ANGLE—-AMSTERDAM

Spending an hour on so many Highlights cruise around the canals was a great way to see Amsterdam from another perspective. We took our cruise about 30 mins before sunset so the timing was perfect. We took a private cruise friendshipamsterdam.com cruise. It was an open boat…boat trip is always the best to see Amsterdam city without much effort but, we planned this on the third day as we wanted to explore Amsterdam city first by walking and then on boat…

More than thousands of bicycle parked- its said bike rides are the other best part of seeing Amsterdam city.

The tour was amazing and the tour took us through the Red Light District, which is always amazing. Our guide…the guy who was riding the boat…. god…..what a seamanship I know he does it every day, but to  come under a bridge then helm over and full reverse, the vessel shoots under another bridge. Awesome experience….the added advantage of this kind of open cruise or small boat tourist that they cruise through smaller canals very easily and you see remote of Amsterdam which you don’t get to see in big closed boat tour..The guide was giving good informative commentary throughout.

SEA PALACE-a floating hotel-an interesting story we heard about this was that this was designed for 1000 people but designers considered average weight of chinese men…so in actual this hotel can accommadate around 650 netherlands men only.

DANCING CANAL HOUSES–it is said once upon a time amsterdam was built on clay and thats the reason why houses here are not straight.

A water journey is always nice, but when you take such a trip in Amsterdam you find yourself in the fairytale. I suppose it is the best way to see the city. Beautiful and amazing architecture which fascinate everybody. It was a romantic evening tour.

“…so in actual this hotel can accommadate around 650 netherlands men only”… 😀 This had me in stitches! I’m enjoying your travels, Sally, since I’m not sure when I’ll be crossing any oceans next (many voyages “in my youth” though I’m not quite done with that yet!)

      Hi Annika,
Thank you for liking the post 🙂
My planned schedule didn’t allow me to visit this museum. It would be on my top of list, when I visit Amsterdam next time 😉
It would definitely interesting and I look forward to your post to read about it 🙂

All the pictures look so beautiful and so was your writing describing them 🙂 The video was good too – talking about the cinematographic touch. Hope you had a great stay at Amsterdam. The place look lovely indeed.

My love and I were there on our honeymoon! We ended up in a ‘cheese museum’ that was more of a ‘cheese shop’ than anything else, which is the sort of thing that happens when you’re just up for seeing what’s down the block.

      Hi Joseph,
Cheese is like an integral part of Holland. The trip would be incomplete if you donot have cheese from Holland and you went step further visiting a museum. Like i have posted a picture above, we also found a museum for Bags and Purses in the city..pretty cool isnt it?
Though I never like a museum stuff, but I did make a visit to National Maritime museum in Amsterdam. It was an awesome and memorable experience. I would post about it soon. Keep visiting 🙂

      Hi Momand,
March is pretty cool in Holland. Any time from from first to mid of May would be the ideal time as the weather is pretty good and right time to visit tulip gardens (Kukenhof).
Thank you for liking the post and keep visiting 🙂

      Hey Anne,
Thank you for liking the post.
I second that, for me this trip would be a never fading memories of colors, fragrance and the salacious Red light district experience un comparable with any other place in the world 😉

I’m a little jealous of your beautiful photos 😛 Thanks for sharing them. I must still see the tulips and there must be more to the Netherlands than Amsterdam so I have a reason to go back.
