I wrote so much about my trip to thermal baths, ruined bar, tour to Chain bridge, Royal palace and Fisherman’s Bastion, but I still feel I have so much to talk about this lively city.
And why not, this city has every reason to be happy about.
Starting from our experience where we stayed.
Prima fashion Hotel was absolutely everything you would need for a city break. The location was spot on. The hotel was so clean and fresh and absolute gem. Very centrally located .we could walk to all major destinations from there and the metro was just 5 minutes away.

I almost ended up buying an I phone 6s for one-third the price in store ;-). There were Iphone 6s seller at every corner- that was funny when every next guy came to us and offered us iphone 6s for way cheaper price- obviously it was a fake phone. But I am sure they fooled many others thats the reason they try on everyone.
Like the saying goes “You have to taste a culture to understand it”. Eating was a requisite thing.
Hungary’s spicy obsession is higher in comparison to standard German level.
Hungarian paprika’s are traded well across the globe and hence are one of the best souvenirs to buy at the Central Market.
The very popular Hungarian street food speciality, Langos. It’s deep fried flat bread made of dough with flour, yeast, salt and water (a kind of bread dough).
It is eaten fresh and warm, topped with sour cream and grated cheese, garlic or garlic butter, or doused with garlic water.
Some highlights about my spending a day were like-
To and fro trip in Tram Line-2- For a day when I didn’t have any plan, I took this tram Line 2. Had read about this. If you buy 24 hours ticket, you can use every transportation in Budapest central. This tram covers many famous places.
Statues on the street of Budapest – well, here can find at least 1 statue in every street. This statue was my favourite.
Shoes on River Danube –It refers to the location where many Hungarian Jews were marched and ordered to jump into the river to their death by the Hungarian government. The shoes are in a state of looking like their owners just stepped out of them, men, women, children… you can feel the emptiness of them. It was very thought provoking and definitely an impact. These are the type of memorials that cause people to stop, ponder and understand.
The statue of liberty of Budapest–The “Statue of Liberty” was beautifully lit at night. The whole vista of Buda and Pest can be seen from the ramparts. We could visit there because it rained that day. One of very few Communist era statues remaining in its original location.
After having a long day, what could match the gaiety of getting yourself being ducked to hot thermal treatment. Trust me, muscles and mood both get relaxed. The excitement doesn’t stop here, having Party with spa – Sparty!!
I have shared my experiences about the two thermal baths I had been in separate posts.
Budapest is an epitome of lively city 😊
Loved the pictures and the insights – I’ll be moving to Budapest this month and you’ve given me lots to look forward to! Thank you!

I too have fond memories of Budapest – the architecture is just stunning – esp. viewed from the bridges. Also loved the Opera House and the magical fountain on the island in the middle of the Danube ( I blogged about both of them).

Hi Anna,
This place was very touchy. The hundreds of people standing at that time on that path, had similar expression on their face and same feeling inside their heart, and all had silent prayer for peace for ever.

Truly said. Memorials are built only to remind all of us about the wrong in past and not to repeat in future. If only we could ( and world leaders ) remember this, world will be a peaceful place.

I was in Budapest in 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin wall. There were lots of groups meeting around the embankment by the chain bridge plotting the future. It looks like its moved on a long way since.

Hello Marlene,
Thank you for visiting.
I guess the memorial not only stand to respect for the loss but also a reminder for us to not to repeat same thing like that. It was very touching to visit such place especially knowing the history.

And yet man continues. I drove by Dachau some years ago. Not even going in, just driving by, had all the hairs on my body on end. It hurts all the way through to know what atrocities man is capable of. I’m glad they continue to shine the light on it with such powerful memorials. Thanks so much for sharing.
